A lot of Newcastle United fans have flocked to a post from Ian Dennis, who has revealed that the American businessman Henry Mauriss has made a £350m offer to take the Toon from Mike Ashley.
Dennis, who works for the BBC, claims that should Amanda Staveley’s Saudi-backed consortium fall through, then Mauriss is waiting and is ‘prepared to move quickly‘.
Mauriss was first linked with a move to buy the Toon in April, and now it looks like he is ready to step in should Staveley’s takeover fail.
However, many Newcastle fans are not convinced and believe this to be absolute rubbish.
Do you believe this post?
No, sounds like rubbish

Yeah he’s a businessman and has offered 50 million over an already agreed sale price. Wow really #nufctakeover

Other Toon supporters have highlighted Dennis’ mistake regarding the WTO report and, therefore, don’t believe him on this either.
This from the same “reliable source” you used yesterday @Iandennisbbc before deleting your tweet! We don’t want an American version of Mike Ashley running the club, leveraging debt against us in the same vein as “The Glazers”!!

After yesterday’s tweet I find your reporting difficult to believe
— Ian (@wheatley1405) June 17, 2020
Are you being fed info by the Qatari state?
— Fergie (@TartoonArmy) June 17, 2020
Same source as yesterday Ian? #nufc

Dennis did tweet on Tuesday about a claim from the WTO report that proved to be false, so he deleted his tweet on that, but his claim here has been backed up by Craig Hope and Luke Edwards to name but a few.
The deal that the Premier League is currently assessing is led by Staveley and consists of the Reuben brothers and the majority backers, Saudi Arabia’s PIF.
However, concerns over piracy have caused delays and have led to suggestions that Saudi Arabia might have to make some concessions before their takeover is allowed through.
These could include shutting down BeoutQ and unblocking BeIN Sports.
This current takeover deal has been with the Premier League for a while now after a deposit was paid to Ashley, but PL chief executive Richard Masters confirmed that there was no timeframe for this process.
However, it now seems as if Mauriss’ interest has turned into a serious bid, but he can’t do anything until there is a resolution on this current deal.
If the Premier League turns down Staveley’s bid, then Mauriss could be ready to step in and end Ashley’s reign at St. James’ Park himself.
