To kick off this quiz on the goings-on with the Toffees last week, which brand did the club announce would be their new kit maker in mid-week?

Jones was discussing Gordon, amongst a number of other topics, and this is what he said when asked if he thought Gordon should start against Liverpool:

“I don’t think he should be starting. I mean, obviously it’ll depend on fitness for everybody else in the squad by the time we get to Sunday, which, who knows where that’s going to stand considering our luck over the last couple of weeks?

“I think it’s really promising to see him getting a bit of exposure in a circumstance such as this one.

“These intra-squad matches are maybe not the best in terms of getting the squad up to Premier League-standard again; you would rather play against a different side for that, really – even like a higher-up Championship team.

“But to see Anthony Gordon given his opportunity in a game like this one and taking his opportunity as well by getting on the scoresheet is really, really promising.”

TIF Thoughts…

Gordon featured in a friendly that took place between the Toffees’ squad and scored a goal.

However, is a goal in an intra-squad friendly really enough to justify him starting against Liverpool?

It must be remembered that the Reds are a side who have won 27 of their 29 league games this season.

Gordon has made two Premier League appearances so far this season, and has performed well at youth level – scoring six goals and providing two assists in the Premier League 2 – but a start against Liverpool might be too early for the 19-year-old.
