West Brom-focused Twitter account @BaggiesHQ recently posted a tweet asking the club’s supporters whether or not they think Semi Ajayi will be good enough to start for the Baggies in the Premier League, should they achieve promotion to England’s top-flight for next season.

This post caught the attention of plenty of Baggies fans who flocked to have their say on Ajayi, with many of those who responded to this post taking this opportunity to claim that Ajayi is good enough to start in England’s top-flight. One Baggies fan went so far as to describe Ajayi as the Baggies’ “best defender since Jonny Evans”.

Is Semi Ajayi good enough to play in the Premier League?

YES

YES

NO

NO

What do we think?

Considering that Ajayi only joined West Brom last summer from Rotherham United, it may be fair to say that the 26-year-old has made a fairly significant impact for the Baggies throughout the 2019/20 campaign. The defender has earned an average overall rating of 6.90 from his 35 Championship appearances this term according to WhoScored.

Only six other Baggies players have earned a higher average overall rating than Ajayi has in the Championship this season and none of those players have played more minutes than the defender has played in the league this term. With that in mind, it may be understandable why these Baggies fans have been impressed by him this season.
