Many Rangers fans have been responding to a tweet by Matthew Lindsay of HeraldScotland in which he announced SPFL chief executive Neil Doncaster would take part in an interview with the publication.
He emphasised that Doncaster would be discussing the ‘threat’ made by Rangers chairman Douglas Park and the Glasgow-based club’s offer to fund an independent investigation into the circumstances surrounding the SPFL’s ballot, which effectively saw the lower-league season ended. Dundee’s decisive vote was late and the Ibrox club claim they were not told of a potential £10m liability to broadcasters and sponsors (as per BBC Sport).
It appears Lindsay’s tweet was mirrored by Robert Grieve, the Scottish Sun’s chief football writer (as highlighted by @Time3Rag) – and that triggered some Rangers fans to slam what they believe to be an attempt by the authorities to discredit the club’s claims through the media. Here is how some of the club’s supporters have responded to the tweet.
Did you both write this together or were you told what to write ????? pic.twitter.com/n9UckzhjX7

Credibility decreasing, but its okay wallets inflating write the truths we want the clubs to hear along with our over exaggerations and we will put a penny in your pocket and you know its true cause its written in a newspaper

What do we think?
It’s clear from the above responses that these Rangers fans see the interview as nothing more than a publicity stunt in order for the SPFL to try and gain a further advantage in the dispute.
