Fans of Rangers have been reacting to a post on Twitter, in which The Athletic’s Jordan Campbell relays news regarding the SPFL’s EGM vote that took place on Tuesday.
In his post, Campbell relayed a statement made by Clyde explaining why the club abstained from the vote, which found that the majority of Scottish clubs felt that a second independent investigation into the SPFL’s handling of the conclusion of the Scottish Championship, League One and League Two seasons was not necessary.
In reaction, fans of Rangers flocked to have their say on the matter, with many suggesting that Clyde’s position was ‘pathetic’, while others have claimed that the statement proves that more clubs believe it is indeed necessary for a new investigation of the SPFL to begin, regardless of whether they voted or not on Tuesday.
Do you think Clyde's reasons for abstaining from the SPFL vote are cowardly?
Yes
No
Statement from Clyde on why they abstained in today’s vote.
They say they were not surprised by the alleged behaviours and practices of the SPFL, which “made it difficult not to want to support some form of investigation”.
It wasn’t a priority, however, given the circumstances. pic.twitter.com/skOLpynlf7

pathetic for any club to abstain????

While I wouldn’t agree with an abstention their position is clear. The SPFL aren’t fit for purpose and there’s no need for an investigation to prove what is already plainly evident. Celtic’s ‘everything is rosy’ outlook savaged again.

These are cast iron reasons for Rangers to seek joining the EFL. Nothing clubs like Clyde that don’t care either way… leave them all high and dry. Surely the fans want a fresh challenge.

Pathetic

Really embarrassing. Should have kept their reasons private

Gutless cowardice.

What do we think?
While many of these Rangers fans are clearly very frustrated following Clyde’s statement, their reactions are somewhat understandable.
Abstaining from the vote despite stating that they agreed with the need for a new investigation is a slightly odd position for Clyde to take, especially as a primary reason given for their abstention was the fact that they believed the actions of the SPFL were not surprising.
As such, we can understand the argument that Clyde’s reasons for abstaining from the vote are rather confusing, and how they could be perceived as slightly cowardly.
