Fans of Glasgow Rangers have been reacting to a post on Twitter, in which Raman Bhardwaj discusses the SPFL’s sponsors for next season.
In his post, he states: “Sky to be new/main sponsor of SPFL next season? I’d wager a fiver…”
This comes as Monday’s decision to finish the 2019/20 Scottish Premiership season saw Ladbrokes end their five-year partnership with the SPFL, leaving the league without a sponsor for the 2020/21 season as things stand.
In reaction to the post, fans of Rangers flocked to have their say on the matter, with many taking aim at SPFL chief Neil Doncaster.
Do you think Neil Doncaster should resign?
Yes
No
SKY to be new/main sponsor of SPFL next season? I’d wager a fiver…

Twice in his tenure he’s failed to attract a sponsor. Are clubs not concerned about his failure to do the most basic elements of his job?

So they get it for nothing then…………bit they will still return the liability to them…..
Embarrassing stuff..

Absolute joke. Scottish football is dead. How Doncaster is still in a job is beyond me. https://t.co/2eXU9sBtSr

Hmm. So, “that £10m liability we’ve got… fancy no charging us and you can have the sponsorship instead?”.

What do we think?
As some of these Rangers fans have suggested, it could be argued that Bhardwaj is suggesting that Sky could potentially waive part of the £10 million fee reported to be owed to TV companies from SPFL clubs for failing to complete their season, by gaining sponsorship of the Scottish Premiership next season effectively for free.
However, from their comments, it would appear that many of the Rangers fanbase feel this would just be another poor move from the SPFL and Doncaster in particular.
