Some Charlton Athletic supporters have recently been responding to a tweet asking fans of the club if they would take Ricky Holmes back at The Valley.
After arriving at the club in July 2016, Holmes went on to make 64 appearances for Charlton in all competitions, according to Transfermarkt.co.uk. The 32-year-old scored 19 goals and provided 13 assists during his time at The Valley before leaving the club to join Sheffield United in January 2018.

What do we think?
According to Transfermarkt, Holmes made 32 goal contributions in his 64 competitive appearances for Charlton – an average of one goal contribution in every two games for the Addicks.
With that in mind, it may be fair to say that Holmes had a fairly impressive return for the club and it may not be too surprising that the player appears to have left a good impression on these Charlton fans.
However, a recent report from The Sheffield Star claims that Holmes may be set to retire, as the 32-year-old last made an appearance for his current side Sheffield United “25 months ago”, having recently struggled with injuries and been sent out on loan in that time. This article quotes the former Charlton man as declaring that “retirement in the summer looks imminent”. With that in mind, a return to The Valley may be unlikely for Holmes.
