Rick Everitt, editor of Charlton Athletic-focused fanzine ‘Voice of The Valley’, recently posted a tweet claiming that the EFL are looking “likely” to promote the top three teams from each division without relegating any side, as playing the 2019/20 season is becoming “increasingly regarded as unfeasible”.
This tweet has caught the attention of some Addicks supporters who have been sharing their opinions on this rumour. The BBC’s Ian Dennis also recently took to Twitter to declare that “open discussions have taken place between the clubs in the EFL” with regard to promoting three teams from every division without relegating any team.
Meanwhile, The Bristol Post recently published an article which claimed that while a “senior figure at the EFL” is allegedly “optimistic” that the 2019/20 season may restart in June, “provisions are also being made to end the campaign prematurely, scrap relegation and have three teams promoted from each league”. This report came after a voice recording from a “confidential EFL meeting” was recently leaked.
Some Charlton fans have reacted positively to Everitt’s tweet sharing this news that they could avoid relegation from the Championship this season. Meanwhile, other Addicks fans shared some concerns over whether or not this way of handling a premature conclusion to the 2019/20 season is feasible.

EFL likely to promote top three clubs in each division with no relegation because completing the season is increasingly regarded as infeasible. #cafc

Hmm…we wait and hope I suppose!

Either this or null and void. Basically any decision that doesn’t relegate Charlton is best.

Would this be a good way of handling a premature conclusion to the 2019/20 season?YES, I WOULD LIKE THISNO, IIT WOULDN'T |
No relegation? Music to my ears. Survival by default, up the reds

Simply doesn’t work. So you have 22 teams in the prem, yet they already moan they have too many games
— Ben stevens (@benstevens90) April 30, 2020
There’s no way that they will have extra teams in the premier league so unless they complete their season then the championship will have 26 teams in, and the players complain about too many matches now!

What do we think?
Considering that Charlton currently sit in the Championship’s relegation zone, it may be understandable why some of their fans might be relieved at the prospect of no teams being relegated at the end of the 2019/20 campaign.
