Some Charlton Athletic fans have flocked to a tweet that was recently posted by Addicks-focused Twitter account @100PercentCafc discussing Tahnoon Nimer’s lack of investment in the club and sharing some concerns with regard to the club’s finances.

As explained in an article that was published by The Evening Standard at the beginning of May, while Charlton Athletic’s staff did receive payment for the month of April, the club’s majority shareholder Tahnoon Nimer is still yet to inject any money into the club since East Street Investments completed their takeover back in January. This article also explains that the majority shareholder is yet to “prove source and sufficiency of funding to the EFL” since completing a takeover of Charlton.

This tweet from @100PercentCafc expresses some concerns around the club’s finances, stating that players and staff will be due to get paid again soon and Addicks supporters are still waiting to hear the news that Nimer has injected funds into the club. Some Charlton supporters have also been sharing some concerns over the club’s finances in response to this post, with one Addicks fan even hanging their hopes on Mike Ashley investing in the club.

To kick off this quiz on the Championship's newcomers for the 2019/20 season, can you name which club West Brom's Matheus Pereira joined the Baggies on loan from last summer?

Would Mike Ashley be better than Tahnoon Nimer?

YES, ANYONE BUT NIMER

YES, ANYONE BUT NIMER

NO, ANYONE BUT ASHLEY

NO, ANYONE BUT ASHLEY

What do we think?

Charlton manager Lee Bowyer recently shared some concerns of his own regarding the club’s finances. As per londonnewsonline.co.uk, Bowyer has stated that if the club’s staff aren’t paid this month, it “will show (they) are in big trouble”. He is also quoted as saying that all they can do is hope that Nimer “steps up”.

It may be fair to say that these aren’t exactly reassuring words from Bowyer and if even the manager has some concerns over the club’s finances, it might not be surprising that these supporters do as well.
