Plenty of Charlton Athletic fans have flocked to a tweet that was recently posted by Charlton Athletic Supporters’ Trust (CAST) that includes a link to an article from castrust.org which discusses the EFL’s recent statement regarding the conclusion of the 2019/20 season.

On Thursday, the EFL released a statement announcing that clubs from all EFL divisions will vote on curtailing the 2019/20 campaign or playing it to a finish when it is deemed possible to do so. This statement goes on to declare that in the event of curtailment, the final placings on EFL league tables will be decided using an unweighted points-per-game model.

As per castrust.org, this would see Charlton relegated, and CAST has shared their anger at this decision, stating that this would be an “eviction” from England’s second tier, as opposed to a relegation.

CAST’s tweet sharing this article from their website has drawn the attention of plenty of Addicks fans who have been sharing a similarly critical reaction to the EFL’s statement. Read the responses of some Addicks fans to this post in the tweets below.

What do we think?

Considering that their club would be relegated from the Championship if the season is curtailed at this point, despite not playing all 46 games that they had intended to play at the beginning of the season, it may be understandable why these Addicks fans have been critical of the EFL and their plans.
