Plenty of Charlton Athletic fans have flocked to a tweet that was recently posted by Charlton Athletic Supporters’ Trust (CAST) that includes a link to an article from castrust.org which discusses the EFL’s recent statement regarding the conclusion of the 2019/20 season.
On Thursday, the EFL released a statement announcing that clubs from all EFL divisions will vote on curtailing the 2019/20 campaign or playing it to a finish when it is deemed possible to do so. This statement goes on to declare that in the event of curtailment, the final placings on EFL league tables will be decided using an unweighted points-per-game model.
As per castrust.org, this would see Charlton relegated, and CAST has shared their anger at this decision, stating that this would be an “eviction” from England’s second tier, as opposed to a relegation.
CAST’s tweet sharing this article from their website has drawn the attention of plenty of Addicks fans who have been sharing a similarly critical reaction to the EFL’s statement. Read the responses of some Addicks fans to this post in the tweets below.

Charlton to be evicted from The Championship? https://t.co/3vsY0FhlPU #cafc

One way or another we’re doomed. The EFL will nail us either way. But then will there be a club in existence when/if the season ends or becomes void ? In 55+ years’ supporting Charlton this is the worst period ever.

exactly. If it werent for the concern about our future Id be splitting blood about this ‘relegation’ thing but I really cant get worked up about it. I just want a club to support. #cafc

The EFL are a waste of space . They couldn’t make the right decision if they tried . Are they anti football anti clubs survival . What about the supporters of every club they don’t help and so they go on . Total mishmash of an organisation . There is still 27pts to play for ?

Surely with the amount of money involved in football now, we have a case of shooting down the EFL?

What do we think?
Considering that their club would be relegated from the Championship if the season is curtailed at this point, despite not playing all 46 games that they had intended to play at the beginning of the season, it may be understandable why these Addicks fans have been critical of the EFL and their plans.
