Some Celtic fans have been talking about a post involving Jonny Hayes that emerged online recently.
Hoops-related page CelticGossip recently posted an image of Hayes on Twitter. The image carried a caption for Hayes, saying that the player would ‘go through a brick wall’ for Celtic.
Many Celtic fans flocked to this tweet. While they agreed with the sentiment, they did have some criticism for Hayes.
Guys a good honest pro that works hard and gives his all but I dont think he is up to the standard required for us to move forward.

Is Jonny Hayes overrated?
Yes, he is overrated
No, he deserves a lot of credit
And then pass the ball to the opposition.
Heart and always gives 100% but he’s no good enough if we want to improve.— Paul Clocherty (@clox79) May 22, 2020
So would I mate doesn’t mean I should get a game

Poor player though, not anywhere near good enough

I’d go through a brick wall and run a hundred thousand miles to play for Celtic, doesn’t make me good enough though. Hayes can’t defend, simple as that. Watch the 1-0 league cup final win in its entirety for proof of just how bad he can be.

So would i mate but it doesn’t make me a good player.

Hayes had arrived at Celtic from Aberdeen in the summer of 2017 and his current deal at Parkhead expires at the end of May.
The current season has seen the Dublin-born player make 26 appearances in all competitions. He has one goal to his name and two assists (via Transfermarkt).
What do we think?
While these Celtic fans have demanded more from Hayes, it could be argued that Hayes can be a reliable and versatile big-game player.
The one goal that Hayes has scored came in the Old Firm derby, while he also made five appearances in the Hoops’ Europa League campaign, while he has played at left-back and in the left midfield position this season.
The fact that he has started in big games shows that Neil Lennon trusts him. In that sense, he perhaps deserves more credit than the Celtic fans are giving him.
