Some Charlton Athletic fans have flocked to a tweet that was recently posted by Addicks-focused Twitter account @AddicksHQ which asks fans of the club whether or not they expect Naby Sarr to remain at The Valley, should the Addicks get relegated to League One for next season.
Londonnewsonline.co.uk published a report back in February which claimed that the French defender, whose current Addicks contract is set to expire “at the start of July”, would be offered a new deal by the club. However, this article also stated that Sarr is currently the club’s top earner.
This recent post from @AddicksHQ regarding the club’s top earner has caught the attention of some Addicks fans and many of the Charlton supporters who have been responding to this post have shared that they don’t expect the 26-year-old defender to be a Charlton player next season should they get relegated, with some citing his high wages as an issue. Some have even stated that they don’t expect him to be at the club regardless of whether or not they get relegated to League One.

I’d expect so it’s been said several times he’s one of our biggest earners and we’re broke!

Yes. We can’t afford him any longer. Would imagine he’ll go back to France.

What do we think?
As reported in an article that was published by The Evening Standard at the beginning of May, Tahnoon Nimer, who became Charlton Athletic’s majority shareholder when East Street Investments completed a takeover of the club back in January, “is still yet to inject any money into the beleaguered Championship club”.
With that in mind, in addition to the fact that the Addicks are currently under the threat of relegation from the Championship, with the club sitting inside the league’s relegation zone at present, it may be understandable why these Charlton fans have doubts over the future of Sarr, who is reportedly their highest earner.
