Some Celtic have made their anger about Steven Thompson clear after his recent comments emerged.
Thompson was recently talking on the BBC Sportsound podcast and he was asked about the SPFL. Thompson said that what the SPFL have done is “morally wrong” and that sporting identity is more about a “fair outcome” and what the authorities have done isn’t a fair outcome. He said that a league reconstruction was the only “real” way of dealing with the current situation.
These comments by Thompson were relayed on Twitter by the Daily Record. Many Celtic fans made it clear that they weren’t too pleased by what Thompson had to say. They also took aims at his previous tax fraud issues.
Morally wrong is not paying taxes to aid NHS, Education, Armed Forces etc…

Thompson’s comments come after the SPFL recently confirmed that the resolution from Rangers about the independent investigation couldn’t get enough votes from the clubs to succeed. The Gers had initially said that the SPFL had used bullying for the voting that was conducted last month to end the leagues below the Premiership in Scotland. They had said that they were ready to ‘fund’ for an investigation against the SPFL about this.
What do we think?
Celtic fans don’t seem too keen on taking Thompson’s comments seriously. Since the vote has already been done against the investigation, it is a matter that Thompson and Celtic fans should move on from. Thompson’s links to the Gers likely don’t help his reputation in the eyes of the Hoops fans either.
