A lot of Newcastle United fans have replied to a tweet from Lee Ryder, which contains a piece that he has produced on the proposed takeover of the Toon.
The piece starts by talking about the government, saying that they would not intervene in the Premier League’s decision on the Toon’s takeover.
It then discusses the request made by MP Giles Watling to investigate Saudi Arabian piracy of British sport.
Ryder, though, believes that piracy of sport is not just an issue in Saudi Arabia, but is also a nationwide issue in the UK.
Do you agree with Lee Ryder?
Yes, piracy is everywhere why is it suddenly an issue
No, this is something that has to be taken seriously
This has drawn a reaction from these Toon fans, with some praising the piece and feeling positive – while others are worried about the takeover.

I honestly think it’s the project restart holding it up. That’s the PL priority currently. This will require PL lawyers as well. Keep the faith #nufc #nufctakover

It’s not going to happen now is it?

Exactly – the piracy allegations are known about and will be looked at. I don’t see how this changes anything. It just fills the void when project restart and NUFC takeover are the only things to talk about

It just seems like a group of people have decided to come together and will stop at nothing to scupper the deal, the longer it drags the more I feel its in trouble.

Any other club there would of been no complaints & would of been signed off by now

What do we think?
Newcastle’s proposed takeover by Amanda Staveley’s Saudi-backed consortium is currently with the Premier League going through the required checks.
A decision was expected on the deal this week, but new evidence to do with piracy could cause further delays.
It will be interesting to see if this new evidence has any impact on their decision.
