Some Celtic fans have been fuming at Ayr United chairman Lachlan Cameron and the comments he has made about the Old Firm derby.
Cameron was recently talking to PLZ Soccer (via Daily Record) and was asked about the derbies involving Celtic and their Old Firm rivals.
He said that he ‘doesn’t care’ about Rangers and Celtic playing a total of four Old firm derbies but is more interested in ‘parity’ for leagues, as reconstruction talks at the SPFL rumble on. He went on to say that the leagues will be ‘better off’ if Old Firm derbies were played less often.
When the Daily Record relayed these comments, many Celtic fans were left fuming. They made their opinions clear.
Aye cause Sky viewers just want to see far more of teams like Ayr ?

Should the number of Old Firm derbies be reduced?
Not at all!

Anything further that is uttered from this man’s mouth should be completely disregarded. What a ?

What do we think?
While Cameron is certainly entitled to his opinion about the issue, the comments of the Celtic fans show that they would not like it if the Old Firm derby wasn’t played as many as four times a season.
As per Transfermarkt’s points table from the 2004-05 season onwards, Celtic and Rangers happen to be first and second respectively. This shows the weight they carry in Scottish football and suggests games involving both of them are very important for the game in Scotland. It proves why Celtic fans are justified in their opinions about this.
