Some Celtic fans have been hailing the latest comments that SFA president Rod Petrie recently made about the Scottish Cup.
Petrie recently talked about the competition on BBC’s Sportsound podcast (via Daily Record) and he said that they want teams to play their remaining games in the Scottish Cup. He called it a ‘showpiece’ and said that they want the semi-finals and the final to be played in front of fans – even if it doesn’t take place until next year.
When the Daily Record relayed this tweet, it left many Celtic fans raving. They seemed excited by the prospect of the Hoops potentially winning the Cup.

While the Hoops are at the top of the Premiership table, they have already won the Scottish League Cup by beating Rangers in the final back in December. The Scottish Cup is still up for grabs with the Hoops reaching the semi-final stage of the competition, where they were due to face Aberdeen.
What do we think?
Petrie is certainly entitled to his opinion being the SFA president, but considering how the Premiership is still suspended until at least June, it is impossible to know when football can safely resume.
But since the Hoops are in the semi-finals of the cup and Rangers are already out of the competition, one can see why Celtic fans are delighted. It shows that if the Scottish Cup does resume, they will have a great chance of winning the crown and continue their domestic dominance.
