Some Celtic fans have been raving at the latest news involving Peter Lawwell that emerged on social media recently.

The Times recently reported that Celtic chief executive Peter Lawwell will be part of the SPFL delegation that will meet Scottish government’s minister Joe FitzPatrick. These talks will be held to discuss football’s potential restart after lockdown because of the pandemic.

The SPFL and SFA executives will also be joined by representatives from Scottish Rugby Union and horse racing. The idea of the meeting is to convince the government that appropriate measures are in place for sporting activities to resume.

The Daily Record relayed an update about this on Twitter. Many Celtic fans flocked to this and made their admiration for Lawwell very clear.

The Hoops were awarded the Scottish Premiership title last month after the league was cancelled. The club was 13 points clear at the top of the table and they had already won the League Cup. Neil Lennon’s men had reached the semi-final of the Scottish Cup (via Transfermarkt).

This tweet about Lawwell attracted even more attention and many other Celtic fans also had huge praise for the club’s chief executive.

Lawwell was reported to have given a ‘rousing’ speech at the SPFL EGM some weeks ago. While no one knows if this had an influence on decisions or not, Rangers’ desire to launch an investigation of the SPFL was rejected as it couldn’t get enough votes to get passed.

This shows that Lawwell is someone who likes to take responsibility for things about Celtic and Scottish football. For that, he deserves a lot of praise.
