Some Sheffield United fans have flocked to a tweet that was recently posted by the club’s official Twitter account which has shared that the Premier League’s shareholders have “voted unanimously to resume contact training”. This post goes on to explain that this marks “another step towards restarting the season”.

As this tweet from the Blades’ official Twitter account explains, the Premier League made a statement via their official website announcing this news on Wednesday, 27 May. This statement explained that Premier League squads can now “train as a group and engage in tackling”.

Sheffield United’s tweet sharing this news has drawn a positive reaction from many of the Blades fans who have been responding to this post.

NO, I DON'T THINK SO

Some Sheffield United fans responded to this tweet sharing their excitement over the fact that their club are in contention to qualify for European football next season.

The Blades currently sit in seventh place on the Premier League table, just two points away from fifth-placed Manchester United and five points behind fourth-placed Chelsea.

Sheffield United have also played one game fewer than all teams currently sitting above them on the Premier League table except for second-placed Manchester City.

Sheffield United fans haven’t had the opportunity to watch their team in Premier League action since the seventh of March as a result of the postponement of professional football in England due to the current viral outbreak.

With that in mind, it may be understandable why some Blades fans appear to be excited by this news regarding the resumption of contact training, as it may be seen as a positive step towards the return of Premier League football.
