The Reuben Brothers are set to become stakeholders in Newcastle United as soon as the £300m buyout of the club is complete – but according to Chronicle Live, not much is known about their intentions. The brothers, aged 81 and 79, made their fortune from investments in property and already own the racetrack in the city.
The report claims that owning part of the club is ‘being driven’ by David Reuben’s son Jamie – who is a Newcastle United fan – and the hope of using the club’s profile to help with investment in the area. Here is how some of the fans have responded to this information, which was relayed via @NUFC360 on Twitter.
They’re parasites. Just like Ashley.
I just hope the city benefits as much as the club will.

Do you believe the Reuben brothers' intentions are good?
Yes
No
I had a really good read about the family today, very hard to track much down. But a fascinating family of hard work, some good luck and enough money to be on the top rich list owners in the world themselves. Developing the city the community from these boys will be huge!! #HTRL

What do we think?
Based on the above responses, the reaction to this post has been mixed. There are those who fear the involvement of the Reuben Brothers in the takeover will have a negative impact on the area, whilst others aren’t fussed and are just eager to see the back of Mike Ashley.
The Newcastle United fans will have to wait a little longer for an official announcement regarding the completion of the takeover, which is understood to be in the hands of the Premier League.
