Supporters of Everton have taken to social media to air their desire to not see the Toffees sign Mario Gotze from Borussia Dortmund.

After comments were made to Sport1 by OGC Nice sporting director Julien Fornier, Inside Futbol reported that the Toffees and West Ham United will now face little competition in pursuit of the German, which had lots of fans talking (via @ToffeeTVEFC).

To kick off this quiz on the goings-on with the Toffees last week, which Super Lig goalkeeper was linked with the club late in the week?

Would you be happy if the Toffees signed Mario Gotze on a free transfer?

Since returning to the Westfalenstadion from Bayern Munich in 2016 (per Transfermarkt), in 73 Bundesliga outings, the German has bagged just 13 goals and 12 assists for Dortmund (per Transfermarkt).

So, with the 27-year-old’s contract set to expire at the end of June (per Transfermarkt), the Goodison Park faithful were left hoping that his next destination is not Merseyside.

What do we think?

As can be seen in the responses from these Everton supporters, they would not be keen on seeing Gotze, who is valued at £9.45 million (as per Transfermarkt), arrive at Goodison Park, even on a free transfer.

Unfortunately for the World Cup winner, the 27-year-old’s career has been blighted by wrong decisions and myopathy (per FourFourTwo), which has left Everton supporters doubting the attacker.
