Newcastle United are ready to spend £53m to offer Gareth Bale a route back to the Premier League this summer, according to Sport (via the Daily Mail). The report claims Real Madrid would turn to Bayern Munich’s Kingsley Coman as a replacement and the Germans wish to replace him with Manchester City’s Leroy Sane.

Bale left the United Kingdom to join the Spanish giants back in September 2013 in a deal reportedly worth £90.9m (via Transfermarkt.co.uk) and during his time there he has won La Liga, a Copa del Rey and an incredible four UEFA Champions League titles.

What do we think?

It’s clear from the above responses that these Newcastle United fans aren’t convinced Bale will be joining the club this summer. Aside from the Saudi-backed takeover having not been completed as yet and the financial investment reportedly required to sign him, some of these supporters feel Bale’s best days are behind him – with one fan labelling him as a professional golfer rather than a footballer.
