Liverpool fans on Twitter have been responding to the latest comments made by Crystal Palace full-back Patrick van Aanholt.
This comes after Liverpool fan Twitter account @AnfieldEdition shared a post on their page relaying comments made by Van Aanholt on the Counter Attack podcast (via Football.london).
When asked which full-back out of Trent Alexander-Arnold and Aaron Wan-Bissaka does Van Aanholt think is better, the Dutchman claimed that “without a shadow of a doubt” Wan-Bissaka is better.
He also added that he has “respect for Trent, but if you ask Wilf [Zaha] who he would want to play against, every other day, Trent or Wan-Bissaka, I think he will say Trent.”
This post then gathered a lot of replies from Liverpool fans who were quick to share their thoughts on the matter.

I understand zaha would rather attack trent but he would do much more running back v trent. Can you see zaha constantly running back to his own goal?? Trent will learn to defend better but wan-bissaka does not have trents ability going forward. Both good players but trents better

There’s so many wrong levels to this
PVA is similar to Trent he’s an attacking fullback so technically every winger in the league wants to face him, so he’s discrediting his own ability.
He didn’t ask wilf so he doesn’t know

There are a couple reasons for this. AVA and AWB are former teammates so he’s going to be biased on the matter. Also, AWB is the better defensive full-back so a player like Zaha would obviously rather go up against him.

If you’re going to ask an attacking winger who you would rather play against he’s going to say the full back who’s in the opposition half getting assist after assist after assist, not the one who’s nose bleeds leaving his half

What do we think?
It doesn’t come as a surprise that Van Aanholt, who is valued at £8.55 million (as per Transfermarkt), has backed his former Palace teammate Wan-Bissaka. In the same way, it’s not a surprise that these Liverpool fans have been backing Alexander-Arnold instead.
