A group of Liverpool supporters have been discussing an article which claims Steve McManaman would have ‘undoubtedly’ fit into Jurgen Klopp’s side.
McManaman left Anfield to sign for Spanish giants Real Madrid back in July 1999 on a free transfer. During his time in the Spanish capital, the 48-year-old won two UEFA Champions League trophies and two La Liga titles (via Transfermarkt.co.uk).
Here is how a sample of the club’s faithful have responded to Kristian Walsh’s Twitter post after he shared the article to his followers, labelling McManaman as the most underrated Liverpool midfielder of the Premier League era.
Really. Lazy, all the way down the wing to go all the way back. Over rated, poser, no guts

Would Steve McManaman have fit into Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool side?
Yes
No

What do we think?
It is clear from the above responses that many of these Liverpool fans cannot forgive the former England international for the way he left the club all those years ago. Whether McManaman would get into Jurgen Klopp’s current side is up for debate, but it seems that the nature of his departure on a Bosman may harm his chances of the Anfield faithful making a case for the former Galactico.
