Spurs fans on Twitter have flocked to a post from centre-back Toby Alderweireld.
The 31-year-old defender shared a post confirming that he has won the PFA Community Champion award for 2019/20, which has delighted a lot of Spurs fans. He wrote:
“An honour to get the @PFA Community Champion award for 2019/20! As footballers, I think we all have an important role in giving back to the local community and I have always enjoyed connecting with people in this way.”
The Belgian defender signed a new contract with Spurs earlier in the season and was praised for his actions earlier in the lockdown when he donated electronic tablets to people in hospitals to enable them to stay in contact with family and friends.

These Spurs fans clearly appreciated the post from Alderweireld and were quick to praise the Belgian for his actions.
What do we think?
It is great to see Alderweireld earning recognition for his work within the community and hopefully, for Spurs fans, he will be able to deliver a similar amount of success when he’s back on the pitch.
