Aston Villa fans on Twitter have been responding to the latest comments from Villa midfielder Conor Hourihane.
This comes after Villa journalist Ashley Preece shared a post on his official page that contained an article from the Birmingham Mail which relayed Hourihane’s comments, originally from the Southern Star’s podcast.
In the podcast, on the topic of Jack Grealish, Hourihane claimed that it’s “only a matter of time” before the Englishman gets a big move away from the club as he is “too good” for the current team at Villa.
This post from Preece then gathered a lot of replies from Villa fans, who were quick to share their reactions to Hourihane’s assessment of Grealish.
Here’s a sample of Villa fans responding to the post:

He is spot on. Fair play. He was asked a question and he answered it honestly and said what most fans already knew anyway. Those fans getting upset need to grow up.

Conor is correct…
So let’s stay up and spend a zillion pounds to build a team worthy of having Grealish as captain

Absolutely spot on by Connor. This whole “our owners are multi billionaires” & “he ain’t up for sale” is total tosh. Facts are we have a poor squad, we were nailed on for relegation & he deserves to play at the very, very top
As long as if we get a good fee, it’s all good

Is Jack Grealish too good for this Villa team?
Yes
No
Just shows Villa need to push on to recruit world class players to get back into the top 6 again. Add class to Grealish not sell our best players continuously.

Na Ash, you cant come out n say it how he has. Disrespectful to the rest of the players the staff and the club as a whole. I can’t imagine the hierarchy being too pleased with the way hes put it.

An admission from a team player that the club have got the recruitment wrong. That’s how I read it. Who could disagree? We haven’t blown it just yet but every season we do our damned best to mess up, often repeating the same mistakes. Selling Jack if we survive would be another.

People moaning about his comment he doesn’t say jack should leave villa, he says if I’m brutally honest he’s to good for our team at villa. Which I think every villa fan can agree with. Hes miles better than the rest. But he’s not to good for the club just the team at present

What do we think?
It’s good to see Hourihane recognising and praising Grealish’s talents and speaking honestly about him. It’s also good to see that most Villa fans acknowledging that Hourihane’s comments were more centred around praising Grealish rather than criticising the club, though are there were some who didn’t take too well to the midfielder’s opinion. Whether Hourihane’s prediction on Grealish’s future comes true remains to be seen.
