West Brom-focused Twitter account @WBANews_ recently posted a tweet sharing Kevin Phillips’ recent comments stating that Aston Villa duo John McGinn and Tyrone Mings could be potential transfer targets for the Baggies this summer, should Villa suffer relegation from the Premier League.
Westbromnews.co.uk recently asked Phillips, who played for both West Brom and Aston Villa in his career, “if West Brom would poach anyone from their local rivals” Villa, should the Baggies replace the Villans in England’s top-flight next season. As per this report, the former striker named McGinn and Mings as two Villa players who the Baggies could potentially take to the Hawthorns.
Many Baggies fans have reacted negatively to Phillips’ suggestion that the club could target Mings, with one West Brom fan declaring that the Villa defender is “the most overrated player” in the Premier League. Read the negative posts from some of the Baggies supporters who have been discussing Mings in response to Phillips’ recent comments in the tweets below.

What do we think?
Mings has earned an average overall rating of 6.63 in the Premier League this season, as per WhoScored.com. Eight Villa players have earned a higher average overall rating for the club this season than the defender according to the website.
It may be fair to say that Mings’ average overall rating isn’t a particularly spectacular one. With that in mind, as well as the fact that the 27-year-old centre-back is currently valued at £20.25m according to Transfermarkt.co.uk, a fee which would make Mings a record transfer arrival for the Baggies, it may be understandable why some West Brom fans may not be too keen on signing the defender, who some of their supporters have described as ‘overrated’.
