Fans of Rangers have been reacting to a post on Twitter, in which The Athletic’s Jordan Campbell shares his article on Rangers’ young goalkeeper Robby McCrorie.
In his recent piece for The Athletic, Campbell reports that Rangers goalkeeper coach Colin Stewart rates McCrorie higher than ex-Gers Neil Alexander and Liam Kelly, while former Rangers coach Jim Stewart thinks that the 22-year-old will eventually replace Allan McGregor.
In reaction to the article, which Campbell relayed on Twitter, fans of the club have flocked to have their say on the matter, with many suggesting that the £180k-rated ‘keeper is indeed their next number-one.
Do you think Robby McCrorie has what it takes to be Gers' next number one?
Yes
No
Robby McCrorie was voted Queen of the South’s POTY yesterday despite only being there half the season.
Their GK coach rates him higher than Neil Alexander & Liam Kelly.
Jim Stewart thinks his kicking needs work but that he could replace McGregor.https://t.co/0yQ5BUdzfK

He’s the next number one. McGregor has a year on pitch and a year transition then McCrorie gets the nod. Another loan deal at a top 6 spl or championship in England and he will be good to go

Robbie has a big future. Hopefully will be with us. He’s also an extremely nice guy. Every time I meet him he seems taller

All McGregor does is kick it out to Tav 9 times out of 10 and Tav wins about 2 surely his kicking can’t be much worse

Got to be number 2 next season. Saves bringing someone in and can be called upon if required

Saw him play the second half of the friendly against Helsinki a few years ago and never understood the hype. However, his progress has been staggering over the last few campaigns and I couldn’t agree with this forecast any more.

Will be our No1 for many years

What do we think?
While there certainly appears to be a great amount of hype amongst the Rangers fanbase surrounding McCrorie, it is unsurprising, as the ‘keeper kept five clean sheets and conceded just 21 goals in his 19 Scottish Championship appearances for Queen of the South earlier this season. Meanwhile, he has conceded just nine goals in eight appearances for Livingston – where he is currently on loan – helping the club to occupy fifth place in the Premiership table.
Interestingly, he’s yet to appear for the first team at Ibrox, but he may not have to wait too long if all goes to plan.
