Spurs fans have been reacting to a tweet from Toby Alderweireld, in which he wishes his fellow centre-back Jan Vertonghen a happy 33rd birthday.
Alderweireld posted his birthday message to his defensive partner on Twitter, suggesting that he is looking forward to being back alongside him on the pitch as soon as it is safe. The post has subsequently attracted the attention of plenty of supporters of the north London club, who were quick to share their thoughts on the tweet.
Although Vertonghen appears set to leave Spurs this summer when his contract expires, it seems as if the two have a great friendship from their time playing together.

These Spurs fans clearly enjoyed the tweet from Alderweireld, with some urging the defender to try and convince Vertonghen to sign a new deal with the club.
What do we think?
The once-formidable partnership of Alderweireld and Vertonghen has been less impressive this season, with Spurs keeping just four clean sheets in the Premier League and considering the game’s current suspension and Vertonghen’s possible contract expiry, the next time the two line up together may well be on international duty rather than at club level.
