Fans of Rangers have been reacting to a post on Twitter, which wishes 27-year-old centre-back Filip Helander a happy birthday.
In addition to sending the Swedish international their best regards on his special day, Rangers fan account @WATP_com also posed the question to Rangers fans as to what they had made of his season so far.
In reaction to the post, fans of the club flocked to share their opinions on Helander’s season, with some suggesting that Rangers were great at the back until the defender picked up an injury, while others have commented on Helander’s lack of pace, and claimed that he has been poor so far.
Do you think Filip Helander is having a good season?
Yes
No
??? Happy 27th Birthday to Filip Helander!
Thoughts on his time so far at the club?

Him and the fridge are the best defenders we have hands down ?? We were great at the back until Helander got injured.

Painfully slow, but his reading of the game means he rarely gets caught out.
For the money we spent, I’m not his biggest fan tbh.— Faceless ? (@FacelessRanger) April 22, 2020
So slow but his defensive awareness and ability to read the game is 100% the best out of all the defenders we have. If he had the pace he would easily be a £10 million player. That game away to Porto highlighted how good he was to me.

Reminds me of a young Carlos bocanegra
Reads the game brilliantly, organises a defensive line and can grab the odd goal too
No coincidence we struggled after losing him

Very poor so far.

Looks like he can read the game and pretty commanding in the air. Lacks a bit of pace I think as well. Bit difficult though to make a proper evaluation due to injuries though.

Slow and overpriced
— The Collector (@thecollectorpro) April 22, 2020
Moves like a snail but reads the game well and it’s clear to see he has experience, good in the air too.

What do we think?
While it would appear that fan opinion is split over Helander’s season so far, it is also quite difficult to judge from his stats as to the sort of season the 27-year-old is having.
So far this season, he has managed just eight appearances in the Scottish Premiership, scoring one goal, and a further five appearances in the Europa League, in which he has recorded a distinctly average WhoScored match rating of 6.7.
However, the fact remains that some Rangers fans seem to believe that Helander is having a good season, while others think the complete opposite.
