Spurs fans on Twitter have been reacting to some quotes from former Tottenham and current Rangers striker Jermain Defoe.
The 37-year-old spoke to Sky Sports about how Juventus were seriously interested in signing him back in 2009, but he was desperate to return to Spurs. Hotspur Related then shared a section from his interview on Twitter, which has attracted the attention of plenty of supporters of the North London club.
The striker rejoined Spurs from Portsmouth in 2009 and stayed with the Lilywhites until 2014 when he joined MLS side Toronto FC (per Transfermarkt). Across his two spells with Spurs, the former England international scored an impressive 143 goals in 361 appearances, so it is no surprise to see lots of fans praising him on Twitter.

These Spurs fans are clearly still appreciative of Defoe’s efforts in a Spurs shirt, with one fan even suggesting that he would have the 37-year-old back at the club this summer.
What do we think?
Defoe’s goal record with Spurs speaks for itself and the fact that the Rangers man has hit 13 goals in the SPFL so far this season suggests that he certainly hasn’t lost his goalscoring touch, so perhaps wouldn’t be the worst signing if Spurs were tempted to bring him back.
