Fans of Charlton Athletic have been reacting to a post on Twitter, in which BBC London Sport journalist Louis Mendez claims that he has been blocked on Twitter by Charlton’s ex-chairman Matt Southall.
In his tweet, Mendez states: “Matt Southall appears to have been on a bit of a blocking spree of #cafc fans this evening, myself included. Gutting. End of an era.”
In reaction to the post, fans of the club have flocked to have their say on the matter, with many stating that they too had been blocked by Southall, while others have stated that Southall’s actions are completely out of order.

What do we think?
It is fair to say that Charlton fans have not enjoyed the best of relationships with their club’s owners over the past few years.
Roland Duchatelet’s running of the club arguably contributed to Charlton’s relegation to League One, before the club’s new owners East Street Investments, headed by Southall and Tahnoon Nimer, began feuding between themselves incredibly publicly.
The latest in the story, that of Southall blocking journalists and fans of the club which he is no longer part of, is just one more example of how poor the relationship is between himself and the club’s fans, with the Charlton faithful seemingly not surprised by his actions.
