Some Celtic fans have been debating over the ‘strangest’ signing that the club has made in the last few years, with many of them voting for Brazilian centre-back Rafael Scheidt.
Hoops-related page Celtic 1967.com recently posted on Twitter, asking fans for their opinions about who the strangest signing at Parkhead was. On reading this, many Bhoys fans made it clear that the tag belongs to ex-defender Scheidt.

Scheidt arrived at Parkhead from Gremio in the summer of 1999 for a fee of £6.48 million.
But after spending a single season at Parkhead, Scheidt was sent on loan to another Brazilian club in Corinthians. His loan spell there had ended in December 2002 and in January 2003, he was loaned out to Atletico Mineiro. His tenure at Parkhead came to an end in the summer of 2004, when Scheidt left for Botafogo on a free transfer (via Transfermarkt).
What do we think?
Scheidt’s limited time at the club suggests that he wasn’t exactly worth the money that Celtic had spent on him. And considering that he was loaned out multiple times, the fans appear justified to label him as one of the ‘strangest’ Celtic signings.
