Some Celtic fans have been discussing a post involving former star Roy Aitken that went viral on social media recently.
A Hoops-related page recently posted an image of Aitken. The post included some words on the former Celtic player, with the Twitter user suggesting it was ‘sad’ how his Parkhead stint ended.
On seeing this image, many fans began talking about Aitken. They hailed Aitken’s contributions to Celtic and rued the way he left the club.
The bear was one of the best players ever to wear the hoops. No game was ever over finished while he was in the team. It’s a shame the way his career ended at Celtic and again the useless board allowed this to happen . Feed the bear HH

Turned into a great player for celtic. Never did understood why he left or was pushed out. Heard a lot of rumours but nothing official.

Was Aitken badly treated at Celtic?
Yes, he didn't deserve it
That's not true
Chased out. Bullets made by Gerry McNee- how often Celtic fans have been guided by a spiteful hack-but fans fired the gun. Sad as hell!?

He sadly became the scape goat ..big Roy was a leader

Poorly treated/managed as usual with our club legends. Happened so many times

Big Roy was taking a lot of abuse off the Celtic fans at that time. Guy gave his all.

Aitken was a product of the Celtic youth academy. He had broken into the first-team in 1975 and went on to play for the Hoops until the winter of 1991 when he left the club to join Newcastle United (per Transfermarkt).
What do we think?
Considering how long Aitken was at Parkhead, it shows what an impact he had made at the club. While the comments of the fans show that they didn’t like how he left, they should remember his stint fondly and derive joy from that.
