Which club did Sutton join Celtic from?

On seeing this post, many Celtic fans were left raving. They had high praise for their former player and what he gave to the club.

Was McNeill the greatest Celtic player ever?

Absolutely!

Absolutely!

Not for me

Not for me

Another former Celtic player in John Hartson relayed this tweet on his account. He labelled McNeill as the ‘greatest ever Celt’, and this got a reaction out of Hoops fans, too.

McNeill was at Celtic from the 1957/58 season until the 1974/75 campaign, joining the club from Blantyre as he gave Celtic 18 years of service before retiring from the game (via Transfermarkt).

What do we think?

As a Celtic player, McNeill made 790 appearances. He won 13 league titles and also won 10 Scottish Cup titles. He was also part of the Celtic side that won the European Cup in 1967 as they became the first British team in history to do so (via Celtic Football Club).

This shows how iconic a player McNeill was in his playing days. He won multiple trophies at Celtic, leaving no surprise as to how he is viewed by supporters of the club to this very day.
