Birmingham City’s official Twitter account recently shared footage of the Blues’ “2-1 win over Wolves from the 2016/17 season” which has got some Birmingham fans talking.
In a fixture that the BBC described as “the other West Midlands derby match” in October 2014, the Blues managed to defeat one of their closest rivals Wolves 2-1 away from home at Molineux Stadium in a Championship clash that took place on the 24th of February 2017.
This Birmingham win came off the back of three straight Championship losses according to Transfermarkt.co.uk. What do we think?
Birmingham City finished in 19th place on the Championship table in the 2016/17 campaign, finishing the season just two points clear of the relegation zone. Considering that this win came in the midst of an extended period of poor form for the Blues during the 2016/17 season, it may be fair to say that this result ultimately proved to be an important one for ensuring Birmingham’s Championship survival that season.
