Spurs fans have been reacting to the reported news that Jose Mourinho’s training session with Tanguy Ndombele was not to work on his fitness issues.
According to The Athletic (via Daily Hotspur), the session with the Frenchman was a psychological strategy to make the 23-year-old feel important and part of the team. The Portuguese manager opted to break the current guidelines on social distancing to meet up with his midfielder in a park earlier this week and later apologised for his actions.
It was perhaps a natural conclusion that Mourinho had been working with the former Lyon man on his fitness, as the summer signing has struggled with fitness issues throughout the season, having completed 90 minutes just three times in the Premier League. However, it seems as if the 57-year-old manager just wanted to make the French international feel like a more important member of his squad, which is perhaps unsurprising considering his comments on him after the 1-1 draw against Burnley in March.
Do you think Mourinho was actually meeting with Ndombele to make him feel part of the team?
Yes
No

It’s not because he’s an out of shape embarrassment to the term “professional sportsman” then???

To be fair as poor as it looked publicly I was pleased to see them spending time together. Get him fit and higher up the park with little defensive responsibilities and he’ll be a world beater. Many man of match champs league displays last season and more to follow.

Don’t agree with Jose’s actions but I do believe Tanguy can be a great midfielder for spurs, should have done things differently Jose.

Most of these Spurs fans seem to think that with the right guidance and training, Ndombele can go on to be a quality player for the Lilywhites.
What do we think?
Ndombele’s performances in the Champions League this season – where he has averaged a 7.34 rating – suggest that he is a quality player and hopefully he will be fully fit by the time the Premier League restarts.
