The Athletic’s Phil Hay has shared an article looking into Leeds United’s finances in which he claims they are a club not living within their means – but a place in the Premier League would solve that.
The piece details that the club’s overall losses for the 2018/19 financial year jumped from £4m to £21m and the wage bill increased by £15m on the previous season, highlighting how much the club have stretched themselves in the recent past.
Here is how some of the Elland Road faithful responded to Hay’s post.
It’s easy to get frustrated and always want more. It’s also easy to demand when it isn’t your own money. But I don’t think people fully realise how far @andrearadri has taken us and how much he has invested in us! Also more evidence why the season cannot be null and void. #LUFC

Absolute joke that we still have people questioning his incentives with all that he’s done. MOT??

That’s why going up this season is so essential.

He’s loaned the club £17m and people still complain, best owner in decades

The fact we consider our club careful with money and yet we’re still racking up losses shows just how backwards English football is

What do we think?
It’s clear from the above responses that many of these Leeds United fans are appreciative of all that Andrea Radrizzani has done for the club. The general consensus appears to be that whilst there is an element of risk to the approach the Whites have taken, it’s a calculated one and until the suspension of English football following the viral outbreak, it was on track to be a successful one.
