Spurs fans have been reacting to some quotes from Jose Mourinho regarding the training session he ran with Tanguy Ndombele, Ryan Sessegnon and Davinson Sanchez earlier this week.
Alasdair Gold shared the quotes from the Portuguese manager on his Twitter account after the Spurs boss was reported to have led a training session with three of his senior players despite the current social distancing guidelines.
The Tottenham manager said: “I accept that my actions were not in line with government protocol and we must only have contact with members of our own household. It is vital we all play our part and follow government advice in order to support our heroes in the NHS and save lives.”
Spurs were already facing a backlash after their decision to furlough 550 non-playing staff at the club, and Mourinho’s decision to meet up with some of his players also seems to have led to a lot of criticism from fans. The Premier League is, of course, currently suspended due to the current viral outbreak but Mourinho clearly felt it was necessary to meet up with these players in order to try and help them stay fit.
Should Mourinho be punished for his actions?
Yes
No
Reaction from Spurs fans to the quotes from Mourinho can be seen in the tweets below.
Unlike some, I don’t see what he did as a sign of ‘winning mentality’, I think it’s just another embarrassing moment for the club. Poch called the players to tell them football isn’t as important as your health. José took them out for a training session. This club is a joke.

Too little too late. Going to find it hard to continue supporting this club when football returns. I definitely won’t be buying tickets or merchandise

There is NO excuse

Not my manager #ShouldBePoch

These Spurs fans clearly aren’t impressed with Mourinho’s quotes following his actions earlier this week.
What do we think?
It is easy to make excuses, but Mourinho broke the social distancing guidelines and arguably should be punished for his actions.
