Liverpool fans on Twitter have been reflecting on former Reds player Florent Sinama-Pongolle.
This comes after Liverpool-focused Twitter account @AnfieldRd96 shared a post on their page that contained an image of Sinama-Pongolle claiming that only Reds fans “with culture” will remember the forward.
This post then gathered a lot of replies from Liverpool fans who were quick to share their memories of the 35-year-old and his time at Anfield.
Here’s a sample of Liverpool fans responding to the post:
Only Liverpool fans with culture remember this guy. pic.twitter.com/gBeGFs2AHQ

Mellor and FSP played a massive part in us winning number 5. As did Igor Biscan with his performance away at Deportivo. We should never forget these lads.

One fan even described the former Liverpool man as better than Cristiano Ronaldo, which is a slight exaggeration, as the Portugal international has scored almost eight times the amount of goals that Sinama-Pongolle managed in his career.
Better than Cr7

I will always remember how happy I was to see us singed him after becoming top scorer at 2001 U17… Unfortunately, he and his cousin Anthony Le Tallec couldn’t make it in redshirt

I can still remember when him and le Tallac signed on the same day and we were told these 2 kids were gonna be absolute superstars. I was so excited ???

Is Florent Sinama-Pongolle a cult hero at Liverpool?
Yes
No
The Frenchman first signed to the Merseyside club back in 2003 from French side Le Havre (per Transfermarkt). Before leaving the Reds in 2007 for Spanish side Recreativo Huelva for a fee of £3.6 million, Sinama-Pongolle made 65 appearances for Liverpool in which he scored nine goals and provided three assists (per Transfermarkt). Now that this image of Sinama-Pongolle has been doing the rounds on Twitter, this has given plenty of Liverpool fans the opportunity to reflect on the former Anfield man.
What a hero, scored some important goals, especially against Olympiakos and Luton

Underrated player

I had high hopes for him. Will always be adored for his contribution in the Olympiacos game

What do we think?
It seems that, despite not scoring or assisting that many goals during his time on Merseyside, these Liverpool fans still remember Sinama-Pongolle rather favourably, which is nice to see. It would be great to see this level of respect for all their former players.
