Spurs fans on Twitter have been discussing former right-back Kieran Trippier.
The England international left Spurs last summer to join Atletico Madrid, having spent four years with the North London club. He originally joined the Lilywhites from Burnley in 2015 and he went on to make 114 appearances, contributing two goals and 24 assists.
Despite a strong final season with Spurs, where he averaged an average 7.10 match rating in the Premier League (as per WhoScored), he was allowed to join Diego Simeone’s side and he has impressed in his debut season in La Liga – averaging a 7.02 rating for his performances in the Spanish top flight. ‘A Spursy Podcast’ asked Lilywhites supporters for their opinions on the 29-year-old on Twitter.
Who would you rather have at right-back?
Serge Aurier
Kieran Trippier

I felt like I had an irrational dislike of him immediately because he was never going to fill Walkers shoes. Has none of the traits of a modern full back. Small, weak, slow. Wanted to be wrong but realised my dislike was entirely rational. Mid-table level at best.

Cost us the UCL final imo useless defender

Awful defender. Pretty cowardly too. A very different player from Walker and thus a poor replacement.

Fully agree with you, very overrated

Another for the list of poor man Kyle walkers, still to be replaced absolute horrific last season countless errors and own goals cost us games singe handedly of his own accord

Believed too much in his own hype after World Cup. Another liability for a defender.

These Spurs fans clearly weren’t the biggest fans of Trippier during his time with the club and were perhaps relieved to see him leave.
What do we think?
Trippier is perhaps being unfairly treated by these Spurs fans considering his solid average rating during his time at the club and since his move to Spain.
