Spurs fans have been reacting to a report suggesting that the current viral outbreak could cause the club’s summer transfer budget to be slashed.
According to the Daily Mail (via Daily Hotspur), the north London club are planning a number of cutbacks as a result of the outbreak, including a significant reduction in Jose Mourinho’s transfer budget. The club announced earlier in the week that they would be taking advantage of the furlough scheme in order to pay non-playing staff 80% of their wages, and it seems as if the outbreak will continue to have a detrimental effect on the goings-on at the club.
Failing to bring in a striker to replace the injured Harry Kane was arguably a factor in Spurs being knocked out of the Champions League and the FA Cup, as well as slipping to eighth in the Premier League table, with Mourinho often forced to play the likes of Heung-Min Son and Lucas Moura out of position. Therefore, it cannot be good news that their budget looks set to be cut ahead of next season.
Are you surprised that Spurs' transfer budget looks set to be cut?

These Spurs fans are clearly not impressed with the news, with some seemingly thinking it was inevitable that Levy would cut the budget.
What do we think?
The current outbreak could financially devastate some football clubs and Spurs are fortunate that they are one of the richest in the world. Although the budget may be cut, some clubs could be forced into selling their star players for much cheaper than expected as a way of surviving in these difficult times.
