Newcastle United fans have been discussing who might replace Steve Bruce if the new owners decide he is not up to the task of delivering their objectives. Reports recently emerged in which it was claimed the club were looking to hire the former Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino as their first-choice (via Sky Sports).
The 48-year-old was sacked by the North London club back in November and was replaced almost immediately by Jose Mourinho. Since the news regarding the Argentinian, further reports have emerged claiming that if the club were unable to lure their first-choice to St James’ Park they would look to bring back Rafael Benitez (via Sky Sports).
The Spaniard left the club in June 2019 and that ‘widened the gap’ between the fans and the soon to be replaced owner, Mike Ashley (as per BBC Sport). How have these supporters responded to the reports their former boss could return to the North East in the not too distant future?
Please rafa??

Absolutely Rafa over Poch. I’ve nothing against Poch, he’s an excellent manager, but Rafa is a proven winner, he ‘gets’ #nufc, the city and the fans. He’s also got the experience, wisdom and respect to build sustainably from where we are now. #inrafawetrust

What do we think?
Based on the responses above it is clear that many would welcome Rafael Benitez back with open arms but he is currently in employment, meaning there could be some complications and a significant amount of compensation required to bring him back prior to the expiration of his contract.
