What do we think?
This post from Downie is positive and seems to suggest that if the takeover is confirmed, the Toon could be backed by some serious wealth.
It looks like after nearly 13 years of owning the club and eight failed takeover attempts Newcastle United might finally be free of Mike Ashley.
However, the deal is now with the Premier League going through the owners and directors test – so it could be a bit of time before anything is confirmed.
Then once that happens, and everything is good, the party on Tyneside can truly commence.
