A lot of Newcastle United fans have replied to a tweet from the Evening Chronicle that includes a piece with quotes from Alan Shearer.
Shearer speaking on the Match of the Day podcast (Via the Evening Chronicle) said that he was ‘disappointed’ not to have another chance as Newcastle boss – after he oversaw the Toon’s relegation from the Premier League in 2009.
Gary Lineker then asked Shearer if he would want another go as a manager, but he dismissed that suggestion, and it has got these Toon fans talking.
Would you want to see Shearer return as manager of Newcastle?
Yes
No
Would you have liked to have seen Big Al have another crack as #NUFC manager? https://t.co/Capa5nPmSM

It was mainly the players’ fault that we went down that year but he’s not cut out for management imo

No!

Stupid question when the man himself doesn’t want it and for that matter didn’t want it then either. Stepped in due to major pressure from all sides and was out his depth from day one.

Pointless journalism here. Properly scraping the barrel where there is absolutely no story.

Sure. I would love to see him own the club.

No, like to remember him as the greatest centre forward in premiership history , would hate for him to maybe fail as a manager

No , taking sentimental reasons out of it , what experience in management has he had ?

What do we think?
Shearer took over Newcastle when they were in the relegation zone with just eight games to go, and unfortunately, he could not save them – as the Toon won just one match under the former Blackburn Rovers striker, drew two and lost five.
Shearer is the Premier League’s all-time top goalscorer, and he was tasked with a tough job that he could not do, and he has not managed since.
Judging by some of the responses to this tweet, we think some Newcastle fans want that to continue.
