Fans of Manchester City have been reacting to a post on Twitter, which relays reports concerning Pierpaolo Marino’s recent comments regarding the possible suspension of the Premier League season.

According to WhoScored, who is City's top Premier League goalscorer so far this season?

His comments come following the Belgian league’s recommendation that their season should not resume.

As reported in Football Italia, Marino stated: “In England, the Premier League is about to release a similar statement [to the Belgian league], because the situation there is becoming very, very serious.”

In reaction to the report, which was relayed by Man City Xtra on Twitter, fans of the club have flocked to share their opinions on the matter, with many stating their delight at the news.

While it would appear that many Man City fans would be delighted were the season to be cancelled, at present, it does not look very likely, despite the comments of Marino.

In a statement on the Premier League website, the organisation vowed to complete the campaign, stating that: “there is a combined objective for all remaining domestic league and cup matches to be played, enabling us to maintain the integrity of each competition. However, any return to play will only be with the full support of the Government and when medical guidance allows.”

As such, it seems likely that the Premier League season will indeed be completed, but when is a different matter.
