FIFA’s medical chief Michel D’Hooghe has insisted football should not return until September at the earliest (via The Mirror). Earlier this week, it was announced that the French Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 competitions would not resume after the government banned all sporting events, even behind closed doors, until September (via BBC).
There are now growing fears that the Premier League could follow suit, therefore denying Liverpool the chance of returning to the field to win their first title in 30 years. So what have the Anfield faithful made of these latest developments?
Expect premier league to do the same as France now. We are champions but not mathematically, which means we are not. Gutted.

Do you expect the Premier League to be cancelled?
Yes
No
Don’t listen to him the league will start again just behind close doors

Personally I think that’s it now. I’m expecting the worse to happen

What do we think?
It’s clear from the above responses that some fans are concerned Jurgen Klopp’s side won’t get the opportunity to play out the rest of the season, whilst others have dismissed D’Hooghe’s comments. The Premier League is said to be ramping up plans for ‘Project Restart’ with a shareholders’ meeting scheduled for later this week, so in our view, it’s too early to give up all hope.
