A lot of Newcastle United fans have responded to a tweet from Goal’s Ronan Murphy, who claims that the Toon have made contact with Philippe Coutinho’s agents, as per a recent report from Catalan outlet Sport.
Newcastle were previously linked with a move for the 27-year-old by Mundo Deportivo and now, according to Sport, they have made contact.
However, with the proposed takeover of Newcastle not yet announced, these Toon fans remain unconvinced by this rumour.
Do Newcastle have a chance of signing Coutinho?
Yes, if the takeover goes through

What do we think?
Coutinho will allegedly be allowed to leave Barcelona this summer and if the reported takeover of the Toon is completed, they may be interested in signing the former Liverpool man.
Since leaving Anfield for £142m, the 27-year-old has made 76 appearances, scored 21 goals and provided 11 assists for Barcelona.
However, this season he has been on loan at Bayern Munich, where he has scored nine goals and provided eight assists.
These are good numbers and if the Toon’s takeover is completed, then Coutinho could be a good signing.
However, we don’t think it is wise to be discussing any potential signings until the takeover is officially announced.
