Dave Maddock of the Daily Mirror has identified a former Liverpool player he would like to see the club re-sign. In a recent interview with Empire of the Kop, the journalist claimed he would like to see the Anfield giants bring Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Conor Coady back to Merseyside.
Coady who was born in Liverpool came through the ranks at the club but after a loan spell with Sheffield United was eventually sold to Huddersfield Town in a deal reportedly worth £423k (via Transfermarkt.co.uk). In the summer of 2015, he was sold to Wolves for £2.52m and his career has gone from strength to strength.
The centre-back has started all of his current club’s league fixtures under Nuno Espirito Santo this season and up until now, has played every single minute. His average performance rating according to WhoScored.com currently stands at 6.49/10 which is slightly underwhelming however, it’s clear he and his manager share a strong relationship.
How have some of the Anfield faithful responded to suggestions Coady should be considered as a transfer target?
Good player but we don’t play 3 at the back and no way he could play in a two

Not good enough

I love Connor Coady he’d be a great character and a good lovren replacement if he could play in a back 2 but I can’t imagine him In a back 2 he’s nailed being the middle man in a 3

Agreed, but 3rd choice CB behind Virg and Gomez? Or 4th behind Matip?

Definitely a major upgrade on lovren and even matip imo ….

Reminds me of @Carra23 but slightly better looking

Is that quoting Maddock? He’s another Carra, in my mind.

Would you consider re-signing Conor Coady?
Yes
No
Coady is in best place for him now, he won’t be better than Gpmez nor Matip, and I don’t think he will love to be a bench warmer here even being a life long red

We dont even play 3 at the back

What do we think?
It’s clear from the above responses that whilst some have been impressed by what they’ve seen of him in a Wolves shirt there are concerns regarding his ability to play in Jurgen Klopp’s system and whether or he would be satisfied with being a squad player.
