Spurs fans have been discussing the future of Juan Foyth at the North London club after Alasdair Gold shared an article on the young defender.
Spurs signed the Argentine international from Estudiantes back in 2017 and he has gone on to make just 32 appearances for the North London club so far. So far this season, the 22-year-old has made just one start in the Premier League, in which he earned a disappointing 5.4 rating for his first-half performance against Norwich back in December.
However, Gold seems to think that the man who was signed by Mauricio Pochettino can still go on to be an important player in Jose Mourinho’s side, suggesting that:
“For while he does make the odd rash error, often due to rustiness as he has barely had a run of games since coming to north London as a 19-year-old in 2017, there is so much potential there.”
“Foyth can head, he can tackle, he has just enough of a turn of pace to keep up with most attackers, but allied to that he’s incredibly comfortable on the ball, with great technique and he can – most of the time – dribble or pass his way out of the tightest of situations.” per Football.London
Do you think Foyth has a future at Spurs?
Yes
No
Reaction from Spurs fans to the article on Foyth can be seen in the tweets below.
Poch hung him out to dry playing him against teams like Burnley. Got battered all over. His level is way above that (That’s sounds wierd I know). Watch him play against the better teams and has usually class. Played amazing against dortmund

Foyth was treated so poorly by Jose. Moving Juan to DM could be a masterstroke if it came off. There have been calls for him to be moved to DM for a year. Neither Poch nor Jose gave him the chance at DM to showcase his high-level dribbling and tackling abilities.

Great little player but not a Mourinho player. Jose not that interested in defenders who can play football.

These Spurs fans seem to be split about the future of Foyth, with some fans feeling he still has a lot to offer.
What do we think?
Foyth admitted in a recent interview that if he doesn’t start getting regular football at Spurs he could well leave, so perhaps the North London club should loan him out next season to ensure that they don’t lose him permanently.
