A group of Liverpool fans have been discussing their former striker Andy Carroll on Twitter after footage of his goal versus Everton in the FA Cup semi-final was posted on the social media platform.
The striker joined the Reds from Newcastle United in a transfer reportedly worth £36.9m back in January 2011 (via Transfermarkt.co.uk). Liverpool were victorious over their local rivals that day but went on to suffer a defeat courtesy of Chelsea in the final of the competition.
Empire of the Kop shared the original tweet with the caption: ‘This is why Carroll will never be considered a complete flop.’ Here is how some of the supporters reacted to the post and the goal.
Carroll could’ve been a great player if he didn’t get so many injuries, absolutely class on his day

He was a flop. If he would hace scored that goal line goal in the final then i would reconsider

My eyes are always drawn to Fellaini for this goal. He honestly has no idea where the ball has gone until a good second after it’s hit the back of the net ?

Was Andy Carroll's Anfield career a complete flop?
Yes
No
Rodgers got rid too easy; lost a fortune on him, played Shelvey up front when stuck. And then later bought Benteke and Lambert.

And the Man City banger…

He should have played more in the final too. Cause Chelsea probs when he came on.

What do we think?
Carroll made 58 appearances for Liverpool, during which he scored 11 goals and provided six assists (via Transfermarkt.co.uk), which cannot have been the return the club were hoping for when they forked out such a significant amount of money on the forward.
